Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin
The building, a protected structure, was originally the ‘Anglesea Arms Hotel’ dating from the 1800’s and sensitively refurbished to provide a series of luxury apartments. A new penthouse level was added in a contemporary form sitting at the top of the existing structure overlooking Dun Laoghaire Harbour and Dublin Bay.
The project represents an exemplar adaptation of a protected structure into high quality modern day residences, as well as providing architectural opportunity by inserting modern elements to deal with the requirements of lifts, stairs, etc, in a complimentary manner. Taylor McCarney carried out RIAI work stages 3 to 8.
