In 2016 McKee Barracks North Accommodation block were commended by the RIAI.
The project consists of the refurbishment of the 19th century North Accommodation Block at McKee Barracks which is a protected structure. The North Accommodation Block, in its scale, architectural design and detail, both internally and externally, is the most important structure within the McKee Barracks complex.
The North Accommodation Block occupies a formal central position in the McKee Barracks complex, originally the officers’ mess, it addresses the historical parade ground.
The project involved the conservation of the external historical fabric of the building including specialist brick manufacture and hand carving of lost and damaged detail, the replacement of decayed sections of the zinc-fléche and the reinstatement of the original chimney details to restore the original silhouette of the building.
